US Open starts today

Unfortunately I am still in the Netherlands, so I can’t attend this years tournament. Definitely the first week I love a lot. Going from small court to court to see as many interesting matches and players as I can. The Internet and TV have to do it for me this year. I bet next year I will be back to enjoy it all in full swing.

The women’s side of the tournament has this year no clear favorite and at least 6/8 possible winners. I will now type down the women who I think will make the last 16 and also a few side options for that round. Before next weekend I will make my prediction for the last 8 and further, I first wanna see how they all get through their first few rounds.

Dinara Safina – Patty Schnyder. I hope Patty will make it this far during her last slam. Razzano is ranked higher and is on good form so she has a good chance to beat Patty.

Sabine Lisicki- Jelena Jankovic. Most people probably predict an all serbian round here, but Ana Ivanovic has done nothing to impress me this year.

Elena Dementieva- Nadia Petrova. Dementieva has a very tough third round though in Maria Sharapova. Both have showed a great hard-court season so the third round is too early for this match up in my opinion.

Caroline Wozniacki- Svetlana Kuznetsova. Kuznetsova is not in good form though so she might get an early upset by either Shahar Peer or Agnes Szavay.

Viktoria Azarenka- Na Li. Li always plays good slam so I think she will upset Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round

Kim Clijsters- Venus Williams. What a great match this will be!!

Elena Vesnina- Amelie Mauresmo. But this section is packed with good players so very hard to pick. Zvonareva, Chakvetadze and Pennetta have good chances as well.

Daniela Hantuchova- Serena Williams. I think Hantuchova will upset Stosur early on, the Aussie girl has played too many tournaments lately. 

Hope I am right with my predictions, but in tennis you never know what’s gonna happen.I will try to write a little piece about the US Openevery day the next 2 weeks.

Gossip; Kerry katona suicide threats, Scissor Sister in dirty Berlin and women prefer water over sex

Kerry Katona has threatened to kill herself after a tumultuous week in which her step-sister talked about her drug-abused nose troubles and Kerry ended up in jail for 8 hours after hurling tea at her accountant. She sobbed so hard her kids woke up and her husband took her to a remote hotel to calm down. I think this woman needs some serious mental help and rehab. Otherwise I see a real suicide happening soon.

Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters, a fantastic flamboyant U.S. band that has had number 1 hits in both the U.K and the Netherlands, talks about their new album in Q magazine. He fell in love with dance music again while being in Berlin for three months, took a lot of drugs and visited the most outrageous sex-parties. Can’t wait now for their album and I have to agree with Jake. If there is one city in the world sleazy and debaucherous it’s Berlin. And I mean that in a positive way!!

Women prefer water over sex!!. According to a survey in a women’s magazine about their priorities, sleep, healthy eating, exercise, minimized stress, relaxation and drinking enough water were more important for their well-being then having a good sex life. I guess there were not a lot of Samantha Jones types  in the survey.

13 year old girl wants to sail solo around the world

Dutch Laura Dekker wants to sail across the Atlantic, along Australia, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean in 2 years. All by herself. Her parents support her, but the Dutch Government does not. The girl has been on the water her whole life, at 6 she already sailed alone over lakes and this year she has already sailed alone to England. Because the Dutch Child Protection Services want to lower the power of her parents to make decisions Laura wants to move to New Zealand(where she was born) to fulfill her wish. While I already think it’s irresponsible to let your 13 year old sail alone for a week to England, I guess the fact that she is really mature for her age and an experienced sailor makes up a bit for that. But no kid in their puberty should be alone for 2 years no matter how good they can sail. What when there is no wind for days on parts of the Ocean, you don’t move and are going through puberty mood swings?? Or pirates try to kidnap you?? That is hard enough for grown-up men. I thought at 13 as well I could do it all alone and would be fine all by myself, and boy was I wrong later years proved.

A man who kicked and stomped gay musician Jimmy Lee Dean back in 2008 in Dallas was sentenced to 75 years in prison. Dean was left unconscious, disfigured and mentally forever changed. On the Internet on several websites you can see pictures of the victim and the whole thing is just horrible, it made me cry. The attacker, Bobby Singleton,  got 15 years more than the original request by prosecutors and he deserves every minute of it. Hope this will be a lesson for gay bashers.

Uruquay will become the first South American country to legalize gay adoption. This came despite opposition from the influential Roman Catholic Church and some political parties. Last year they got civil unions there. Clearly steps ahead from other counties in that region!!

Anti -gay singer Buju Banton was supposed to have multiple concerts in the U.S. in October.After complaints from human rights groups, Live Nation and AEG have cancelled on him. In one of his songs, “Boom Bye Bye” the Jamaican singer calls for the torture and murder of gay men. It already seemed strange to me that Live Nation, the concert promoter of Madonna, would go along with this man’s hate speech.

A Washington State commission has decided that the names of people who donated to the anti-gay marriage Referendum 71 should be made public. The anti-gay group Protect Marriage did not want this to happen because they are afraid for repercussions. Well if you wanna be a bigot, you have to stand up and take the consequences. I for one would not spent my money at a store or restaurant that does not see me as equal.

Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tampa Florida was on Alan Colmes radio show and backed up his hateful speech that is almost too crazy to believe. Earlier on he said he goes to bed and prays that Obama dies and goes to hell. Now he says every homosexual is deviant, evil and a predator that is out to recruit people through molestation and rape and that they all should go to jail. He has got serious gay face himself, homo- bashers have often gay feelings themselves!! One of his parishioners was an armed protestor at an Obama Town Hall event last week in Phoenix. These people are nuts!!!

At one of my favorite TV-shows, Top Chef,  a lesbian contestant was angry at being forced to cook at a straight wedding because gays are not allowed to marry. While I think reactions like that are just a bit too much and counter-productive to most people, it did make head judge Tom Colicchio speak out in favor of gay-marriage on his blog. According to him it's only about equality and he also says religion has no part in the discussion except if the marriage is sealed in church/synagogue/etc. I totally agree with him.

Utah's new Governor Herbert, who took over for moderate Governor Huntsman who became Ambassador to China, thinks discrimination against gays should be legal. He says" we don't have to have a rule for people to make sure they do the right thing". He thinks "people ought to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do". Well, how is that working for you so far!!! What an idiot. In Utah it's still legal to fire someone because they are gay.

Starting with some sad news. Former boyfriend of Nicole Ritchie, celebrity DJ Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM died of an overdose yesterday. Cops found him with prescription pills and a crack pipe. Tons of celebrities have paid their respects through Twitter. A year ago he was in a near fatal plane crash with artist Travis Barker that killed others in their plane. Apparently he was suffering from post traumatic stress from that and a bad break-up with his girlfriend. 

Madonna was booed yesterday at her concert in Romania this week after talking about the discrimination against Roma’s(gypsies) in Eastern Europe. Being the strong woman she is, she did not stop and also mentioned that discrimination against gays made her sad and that everybody should be treated as equals. Kuddos to her for sticking up for what she believes in.

One of my favorite Project Runway contestants Chris March( the funny heavy guy in the same season as Cristian Siriano) is suing the team around Beyonce. He was the head of costumes for her show and is demanding$43.500 in unpaid wages. Creative adviser Thierry Mugler is to blame for all this.

In America apparently all the rage with teens is inserting wodka-soaked tampons vaginally. Because this gives people a much quicker buzz teens prefer this over the normal drinking. In the Netherlands some folks have gone a step further. A guy and a girl inserted GHB(aka rape drug) soaked tampons in their ass/vagina to get a quicker buzz. Both ended up in the emergency room almost dead.

Being gay, bi or even transgender is not hip and trendy anymore. All the new rage is being asexual. A 27 year old guy from San Francisco started an online community with 30.000 members of this movement. Apparently a couple researchers have given this a close look and think it might be a sexual identity like lesbian or bi. They have low sexual desires and little stress about it. I actually think I know a few people that are asexual, it’s kind of a weird thing to ask though.

Ronald Mery,61, a former soldier from the U.K. who is married and a father of 4 was told he had to wait 2 years for his gender reassignment surgery. He then went home, told his wife he had a headache and headed to the bathroom. He took painkillers and removed his penis with a home-made surgery kit, loosing tons of blood. Poor guy, that must have hurt both mentally and physically.

Details magazine had an article about an anarchist groups called Bash Back. It consists of people who neither identify as male or female. It’s anti -establishment,anti -marriage(for everyone) and anti-military. And it’s pro-porn and pro sex and uses confrontation as a response to violence. A while back, being angry over the church’s repression of gays they disrupted a service by pulling a fire alarm, dropping leaflets and yelling at parishioners. Gay’s fighting back(how Queer as Folk) is  good, we have to show people that they can’t just do and say anything with repercussions from gays. Reminds me of my mom once biked behind a group of teens that came by our house and yelled homo, queer while I wasn’t even there. She even managed to pull a guy from his bike who then(with my mom)fell on the street. This group though is way too much, fighting back is fine but not starting stuff.

Whether you liked his liberal politics or not( my bf did not like him at all) Ted Kennedy was a friend and hero for many LGBT folk and for people with HIV/AIDS. He died yesterday, age 79 , to brain cancer.

Amy Winehouse is suing her former mother-in-law Georgette for copyright infringement and wants 50.000 pounds. While former hubby Blake was in prison she used to write him love letter and mom got a hold of them and tried to sell them to the highest bidder. I dunno, it was a bad thing from mom to do but suing is a bit much.

Britney and her former lover/paparazzi Adnan Ghalib might still have a future together. Apparently if there would not have been a conservatorship they would still be a couple. Brit is still in love with the sleaze bag. She has a new boyfriend now but he is more pushed on my her daddy because he is such a good guy. And we all now Brit loves the bad ones!! I feel the crazies coming back to Britney really soon!!

All the secrets of Lindsay Lohan might be on the street soon. During the robbery of her house some very incriminating pictures and videos of her have been stolen along with legal documents that could cause great embarrassment. Poor girl.

Chris Brown got off really lucky in the sentencing of his beat-down of Rihanna. He only got 5 years of probation, 1400 hours of community service and a year of domestic abuse classes. Community service will be cleaning graffiti and washing cars in his home-state of Virginia. He should have gotten a lot more, Paris Hilton had to go to jail for driving without a valid license and he only gets probation. It’s not like this is his first time being violent.

This tournament with almost all of the top players had some great match-up’s ending with Dementieva beating Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-3. I am not a big Sharapova fan, but it’s good for women’s tennis that she is back in finals of big tournaments. She is still not 100% since her long injury but getting there slowly. She changed her serve motion to put less pressure on her shoulder but since then her serve, a one-time weapon is more liability now. And her movement is still not very good either. Dementieva played a very solid game though yesterday and proved her win against Serena Williams in the semi-final was not a fluke. Kim Clijsters played some really solid tennis as well in her second tournament back after 2 years off and beat top 10 player Azarenka before falling to Jelena Jankovic in a tight three setter. All this and the news that Mary Pierce will make a comeback next year shows the WTA tour has a great 2010 ahead.

Showbizz; reality star dead, Miss Universe, Lindsay Lohan and more

Lindsay Lohan was back in the news twice the last few days. Yesterday her house got broken in for the second time  and a couple days before she had an incident at a New York deli. She left her blackberry on the counter and when the deli guy ran out and found her he wanted to know if it was hers and asked for her number. Lohan is not that stupid and tried to grab it out of the guy’s hands. She was too slow, started sobbing and then called 911. Police verified it was hers and gave it back. The deli guy said he did not know who she was!! With all the magazines they are selling there??? 

Reality “star”Ryan Jenkins, from “Megan wants a Millionaire”and the cancelled before it was shown, “I love Money” was found dead in a hotel in Canada. The main suspect in the killing of his wife, model Jasmine Fiore committed suicide. Cops could only recognize his wife last week on her breast implants because the murderer had removed her teeth and fingers. Everyone was already convinced he killed her(he had abused a woman before) and now it’s about 100%. What an animal, probably best off dead.

British tabloid star Jordan is in the news almost every day lately. First the constant back and forth bickering between her and ex Peter Andre on who is to blame for their break-up. Then she upped her security because the mafia had plans to kidnap her. And now her new boyfriend cage-fighter Alex Reid is apparently shooting some hard-core porn. Several media outlets including Perez Hilton think that this makes him a bad person to be around Jordan’s kids, but I have seen clips and pics of him interacting with the kids and they seem to love him. That is more important then him doing porn.

Two big pageants were held this weekend and they could not have been more different. First the Mister Gay Europe pageant with Spain being the winner. The winner was pretty hot but most guys were really mediocre looking, especially the one from the Netherlands. 75% of the people in my gym in New York David Barton are better looking then this lot. No then the Miss Universe pageant with too many hot ladies to count. Miss Netherlands is really good-looking and seemed to be a big title candidate in the polls, but the real winner was for the second year in a row Miss Venezuela. Ps. why was Heidi Montag performing?? she can’t sing or dance and is good-looking but nothing compared to most ladies in the pageant. Is she even famous outside of the U.S.???

Bill O’Reilly versus Amsterdam 2-2

Last year December Bill O’ Reilly, Fox idiot, had called Amsterdam a corruption and criminality hole full of anarchy where you would not go on vacation with your family. It was 5 minutes of ridiculous scare tactics. I am not the only one strongly disagreeing about this, 2 guys made a YouTube clip, “The Truth About Amsterdam” consisting of fun and great views of Amsterdam with some official statistics underneath. 40% of Americans have used cannabis and only 22% of the Dutch people. Often when I was in the U.S people asked my if my whole family smoked pot. Uhmmm No!!  And even more shocking the amount of drug deaths per million people is 38 in the U.S against 2.4 in the Netherlands. 1 all.

O’Reilly  then showed parts of the YouTube clip in his show and said the statistics weren’t correct because the Netherlands is much smaller(he is wrong there because the statistics keep that in mind) and kept repeating that Amsterdam is a Disney World for criminals. The film makers now have created a website thetruthaboutamsterdam.com to create the real and fair image of Amsterdam. It’s much more then the red-light district and coffee shops full of marijuana. Not that here is anything bad with it, ask all the American tourists, haha. It might be 2 all, but I think Amsterdam is the moral winner here!!

gay news; Ru Paul’s drag race, Hurricanes

One of my favorite tv-shows, Ru Paul’s drag race is coming to the Netherlands. I watched all the American episodes religiously but can’t wait to see it here on TV as well. Ongina, Chanel and Nina Flowers were my favorites. We actually had a drag show on TV here over 10 years ago but it wasn’t nearly as much fun as the American version. A great blend of Project Runway, America’s Next Top model and drag-queen bitchiness. 

The evangelical church in the U.S. has lifted it’s ban on sexually active gays and lesbians serving as ministers. 68% of the 1000 members of the national assembly agreed with the lifting of the ban. That is some great news for some but doom for others. According to John Piper, pastor of the Bethlehem baptist church blamed the tornado that hit Minneapolis last week on the assembly even talking about allowing gays. We gays sure are powerful with nature, blamed for Katrina, tsunami and now this.

Viva Mexico

A new law went into effect in Mexico last week that decriminalizes possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, LSD and methamphetamine. People caught with drugs for “personal use” will not face criminal prosecution but will be required to complete treatment programs if they are caught for a third time. Basically 4 lines of coke, 4 joints are legal. With this law Mexico hopes to be able to focus more on the big drugs traffickers and to help protect minor offenders from the corrupt police. In the Netherlands being caught with small amounts is not officially legal but they do not make a big deal about it. I think it’s a great new law!! People should decide themselves if they wanna do drugs!

Gossip; Amy Winehouse, Rosie O’Donnel and Heather Locklear

Amy Winehouse seemed to be doing much better after her stay in St. Lucia. Her her looked clean, as did her skin and she has gained some necessary weight. Unfortunately this week pictures surfaced of Amy leaving a bar with traces of cocaine under her nostrils. Hopefully just a one-time thing.

Heather Locklear might be reprising her role as Amanda Woodward. Initially she turned down returning because execs could not agree on her money demands. I hope she does come back, she was brilliant as Amanda, by far my favorite on the show and after all the bad press surrounding her mental health a while back, it is probably a great career move.

 And Rosie O’Donnel and her partner Kelli Carpenter might be heading for a break-up. There have been rumors for a few months and initially Rosie said there was not truth in them and they would stay family forever. Now though on her blog she says being married for 12 years is hard and they are a family trying to figure it out. Ok , I suspect trouble here.

Justin Timberlake is apparently not a big Kathy Griffin fan. As a bit of her show My life on the D-list she had rapper T.I. call Timberlake, but when he heard it was for Kathy Griffin's show all Timberlake could say was Oh and he did not sign an agreement to let it air. Guess he can only be funny when it's scripted like on Saturday Night Live.

Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge publishes a tell-all and one of the things he writes is that the national security alert levels were sometimes politically motivated and not based on actual threats. He was even pushed to raise the terror alert to help Bush with the '04 elections, a thing he did not do. I have to say I suspected this already back then but it's still shocking that people are being made scared just for political gain. Awful.

An AIDS Healthcare Foundation will file a notice of safety or health hazard with the California Department of Safety and Health against 16 porn companies that made bareback (unsafe sex) movies. Curious what comes out of that. I personally think everyone should decide themselves if they have safe-sex or not, so the companies are not a safety hazard as long as nobody is pressured into doing something they don't wanna do.

Rush Limbaugh, conservative radio host and possible Republican candidate in 2012,  shows what a big baby he is on his show this week. During a town hall meeting this insane woman compared Obama with Adolf Hitler to which Barney Frank asks her on what planet she lives? Of course the only way Limbaugh can react is by making fun of Frank’s sexuality ,saying Barney Frank lives on Uranus. I am not a big Barney Frank fan, but this is just pathetic and childish.

A lesbian couple organized a sit-in Wednesday after expulsion from a Maryland diner. The women say they were just holding each other at the family restaurant  Tastee Diner in Silverspring, but the female owner says they were touching each other inappropriately and that it does not matter if you are gay or straight. I dunno about this one, sit-in’s are fine if there is really something bad going on. But if they were really touching each other inappropriately then I think the restaurant was right. Hope we will find out the truth about what really happened here.

Charles Perez the fired Miami newsman that I reported about earlier, has won a 2-year restraining order against his ex-boyfriend Dennis Ricardo Pena. Pena an unemployed paralegal has 30 days to appeal. According to Perez, Pena was the one that sent all the private emails between Perez and his shrink to everyone in Perez’s electronic address book and he also physically threatened him and sexually assaulted him. Pena looks and seems like a nasty man!!!

South African world champion a man, a woman or both??

Caster Semenya from South Africa won the 800 meters at the world championships in Berlin in a best season time of 1.55.42. Two second in front of the rest of the field. A few months ago she won the African Junior Championships in a time of 1.56.72. Since then rumors have been going around that she is not all woman. Officials do not think she is had a sex change but think she has a medical condition, both male and female chromosomes. In that case she will lose her gold medal. Her dad has said she was always treated as his daughter and that she is a woman. she has a very low voice, moustache and is extremely muscled but she also has some feminine facial features. I feel horrible for her if she loses her gold and then have all the world falling over her. Back in the 40’s the Netherlands had a similar story. We had an athletics champion that people thought was a man. She was disqualified by the athletics union and lived her whole life alone and a spinster. She was last year posthumously honored by the athletics federation and they regretted treating her that bad. It’s hard to decide what the IAAF has to do when she has some male chromosomes but is mostly female. Probably with athletics and when you look like her it’s a bit of an unfair advantage but…

GLBT News; Staten Island gay bar, homophobia in basketball

Staten Island will get it’s first gay nightclub in over a decade. Q-SINY’s owners say they started the club after many local LGBT people complained there was nothing for them to do on Staten Island. It is strange that for the half a million people living in Staten Island there was not a place to dance and party for gays. Probably they previously all went to Manhattan with the ferry.

The Ali Forney center, a homeless shelter for LGBT youth will name one of its residences for the fabulous late Bea Arthur(Golden Girls). Bea Arthur was very involved in many youth centers in the U.S but especially those for gay kids. She flew from LA to New York in 2005 to give a one-woman show raising $40.000. She truly was a legend in more was a legend in more ways then one

Just yesterday I wrote about how nice it would be if men from the big sports in the U.S would be as gay-friendly as they are  in Australia or Europe and what happened?? Washington Wizards center Brandon Haywood has reignited a conversation about homophobia in basketball yet again. He made fun of another player’s YouTube clip insinuating the player might be gay or bi and nobody in the basketball world would wanna change in the dressing room next to that guy. Later on he wanted to make clear he was no Tim Hardaway(player who used some really anti-gay speech last year) but clearly he is about the same. Why do these African American players keep being so homophobic. Can you imagine the outrage if a white player would say he was uncomfortable being in the same locker room with a black guy?

Chaz Bono(Cher’s former daughter, now son) and her girlfriend Jennifer Elia are hoping to start a family soon. The couple is looking around with the help of Cher for a sperm donor. The donor has to be creative, handsome and intelligent!!! Anyone??

The mother of Levi Johnston might go to prison for 5 years. Sherry pleaded guilty on possession of painkillers with the intent to sell. She suffered chronic back pain and had the OxyContin delivered per mail. She did not need that much though cause at three different occasions she tried to sell them to undercover police. She will be sentenced in November. Hope for her the judge is not a Palin supporter.

Project Runway starts with a bang this year and a totally wrinkle-free forehead. The sixth season begins with a 2 hour All Star Challenge with 8 of the favorite contestants of previous years. That will be awesome! And the guest-judge will be none other then wax figurine Nicole Kidman.

Britain’s ugliest dog Mugly was attacked this week by a group of teens. The almost hairless dog was kicked, punched and hit with a stick. Luckily a woman saw the attack and saved the dog. He is home now with bruises, cuts and is extremely shaken up. According to his owner he loves people and probably first thought it was a game. Poor thing, hope the bastards go to jail for a while.

Gay news; new Will&Grace, rugby against homophobia

The murderer of New York transwoman Lateisha Green gets the maximum sentence of 25 years. The murderer 20year old Dwight Delee says he is a young man, no monster and did not mean to kill her. But he did , so I think he deserves every year of his sentence. According to witnesses he used anti-gay slurs before shooting a precious life.

Members of the Australian National Football team are fighting homophobia in a photo campaign. Players are holding signs that say “All gay men are weaklings?? reject stereotypes accept people”. And “Everyone deserves a sporting chance, stand up against homophobia.” It is certainly time for some American team to do a similar thing. “Manly sports” like rugby in Australia and soccer in Europe have done the same, now it’s time for the NFL.

NBC is producing a new sitcom revolving around two male best friends. One is straight and the other one is gay. Former Will& Grace executive producer and co- showrunner Gary Janetti will debut the show. I still love watching old Will& Grace re-runs, so if it is anything like that I will certainly tune in.

90% of dollar bills full of cocaine traces

Yesterday I read in a dutch newspaper that 9 out of 10 dollar bills in the U.S. have traces of cocaine on them. People from the University of Massachusetts  did checks in 30 cities all over the world. In Washington DC it’s even 95%. Two years ago it was only on 66% of the bills. Analysts think that maybe because of the crisis people use more coke. I dunno coke is pretty expensive, so I would expect more people in the U.S. to use meth instead. In Canada and Brazil also a lot of bills have coke traces between 80 and 85 %. In China only 12% and Japan 20%. They did not test Europe but it will be about the same as in Canada, I guess. The myth from people in the U.S. that people in Europe use a lot more drugs then they do is officially nonsense with this research I think. Well after living in San Francisco I already knew this was the case myself.

Oscar winner for Milk, Sean Penn and his wife since 1999, Robin Wright Penn are getting a divorce. They filed for divorce twice before and then cancelled that the last minute, but now it seems serious. They have 2 kids together. Pity they made such an attractive couple.

Celine Dion is pregnant again. The 41-year old Canadian singer is expecting her second child. Her first son was born in 2001. Her husband is already 67, so more like a grandfather. I have never been a fan of Celine’s personality but she does have a good voice. And selling out Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas like she did for 5 years is really phenomenal.

Brett Favre is making another comeback. He retired twice now and is 39 but he will play for the Vikings this year. (S)he really is a drama-queen. Constantly weeping goodbye’s to the American Football world and then coming back the next season. He is hot but his antics are a bit sad.

Joan Rivers has a new toyboy. The much younger Norm Zada is the owner of an adult magazine dedicated to “au natural” women. Pretty ironic that he is dating not so natural Joan. She is fabulous though and deserves a nice man!

And Kirstie Alley urges people through her Twitter to harass an employee of the National Enquirer. She gave away the woman’s phone number and name, calling it fair game. What happened was a cover of Kirstie on the magazine saying, “only 4 years to live. The deadly disease that is killing her.” Apparently her 87- year old father called her up afraid this was the truth. I think Kirstie is right in calling this fair game, the Enquirer has no right to do things like this.

I personally love the Pet Shop Boys but apparently some men in Israel do not. A Dj started playing a song from the Pet Shop Boys at a Bedouin wedding after initially just having played Arabic tunes. The sight of their women dancing to western music made some men so angry that they beat up the DJ. How ridiculous is that?

Matt rolled a stop sign and did not wanna halt for the police until he was home. He was taken into custody after failing a breathalyzer test. He had a previous DUI in 2005 and was in jail in 2008 after violating his probation.

And then pea-sized brain Lynne Curtis and her man( last years newest edition the the Housewives) received a 3-day notification of eviction from their Laguna Beach house. The couple owns the home owner $10.000 security deposit, late fees and other expenses. and their real-estate agent said they never even forked over the commission fee for the house. Lynne probably just forgot because she is so high on downers all the time.

Prop 8’s repeal will most likely not be  until 2012.  Lots of groups and papers like Equality California and the L.A. Times think 2010 will be too early. Forging alliances with minority groups, lining up financial support and getting a better campaign staff then this year takes time they say. While I agree faults have been made before I think people’s opinions have changed already since the prop 8 election with other states already having gay marriage. Why wait until 2012 when the support probably will be there already in 2010. Who knows what might happen after that. Maybe another war or something that changes people’s views again to the more conservative side.

A 15- year old boy from Michigan was assaulted last week and left with bruises, skull fractures and a broken lip. He told his parents and friends a while back that he is gay and 2 older teens apparently thought they needed to attack him. He is a brave guy and said afterwards they did not break his spirit. The case is being treated like a hate crime. Hope those little brats will end up in jail for a while.

The major of Anchorage, Alaska has vetoed a ban against discrimination based on sexual orientation, saying it is unclear such a thing exist!!. The measure was the subject of intense public interest and debate all summer. The Anchorage Assembly can override the veto of Republican Sullivan with 8 votes. 7 voted in favor of the ban in the first place. What an idiot, of course it exists.

It did not take long before Levi Johnston was made on offer after he said last week he would pose naked for the right amount of money. Nude magazine Unzipped ,who previously paid former lover of Portland’s major Adams a nice amount of cash is  willing to do the same for Levi. He gets a free interview with it as well in the nation’s most sold nude men’s magazine. I highly doubt he will do it, but maybe he should. His 5 minutes of fame will be up anytime soon.

I used to be a big athletics fan as a kid. I watched everything religiously on TV and always had matches against my twin-brother. Basically every day we ran, did hurdles, and threw something. Our own kind of decathlon. In recent years I have not been such a big fan of the sports but I do enjoy a race like yesterday night. Usain Bolt ran a new world record during the world Championships in Berlin in 9.58. The race is just phenomenal as is the athlete.

Jelena Jankovic is back where she belongs at the best of her game. After struggling the whole year and only winning one small tournament thus far, she won the big tournament of Cincinnati beating world number 1 Dinara Safina with 6-4 6-2. She beat Safina by letting her run side to side. If there is one player with good angles and the ability to keep rallies going on forever it’s Jankovic in good shape. She probably gathered a lot of confidence after her narrow semi-final win over Elena Dementieva winning 7-6 0-6 7-6 after having 4 matchpoints against her. Jankovic will be a big outsider for the U.S Open trophy with this win.

Michael Phelps may not have caused the accident he was involved in last week but he will be cited for driving with an invalid license. He also admitted to the police that he had a beer 1.5 hours before the crash but they did not give him a breathalyser. I think he got really really lucky there.

Amy Winehouse and her Blake might get back together. They have phoned each other and think they can make a new start now that both of them are sober. I think it would be a horrible idea. Luckily Blake is still in rehab so they can’t get together right away.

British trainwreck Kerry Katona is in real trouble now after News of the World showed pictures/a clip of her doing a line of coke in her own bathroom. Apparently this happened after a 4 days booze binge and only hours after she picked up her kids. The fact that she wants to do drugs is her own decision but doing them in attendance of her kids is a different story.  Child services should get their gear into action

Men with a gut are fashionable

According to an article in the New York Times a belly is now all the rage. Not a huge beer belly but just a little extra flab in the mid-section. The huge He-man with grapefruit biceps and blister-pack abs are now seen as people with too much extra time on hand. An obsession with being physical perfection that got so prissy it stopped being masculine.

I have a flat stomach myself thanks to good genes but could never get a six-pack because I love food too much. I think dating a guy with a six pack would be boring during diners because there is so much that you can’t eat then. Just skinless chicken!! I like my chicken with skin and my men with a little something to hold on to!!

Bravo’s new show; The Real House-gays of New York

The casting calls for hot, young, fabulous gay men preferably with a relationship with diversity especially old/young. They have to go to posh restaurants, nice shops and great clubs. Of course with a lot of drama.

A few years ago this call would be perfect for me and my boyfriend. I am 30, he is is 44 and we are from different countries. He has a super job and always does great on TV. We go out to lots of posh restaurants all the time and we like good shopping. And of course I am fabulous, haha. The only thing missing is the drama that surrounded us for the first few years of our relationship but now we are probably to boring for TV. Besides I have done to many “naughty” things to not wanna become famous.

Teachers at a high school there said about one boy that his "fence swings both ways" Another teacher said he had "a thing for older men". Poor kid, those teachers should be fired. I think a lot of gay kids have stories about things at school. I once had a gym teacher say he could never be friends with a gay guy, prompting my mom to write a letter to school. The principal did nothing with it and years later I saw the same principal at a gay bar(while he was married with kids) I told him then that he should really change something now. Don't know if he ever did or not.

A Utah paper refuses to run a gay couple's wedding announcement. First the Spectrum said they could run an ad but only without a picture. After the couple protested the paper did not wanna run anything at all. The couple was married in San Francisco when it was still legal there and wanted to have a reception in Utah this month.

I love the playful banter between Brad Pitt and George Clooney. In the movie business where everybody seems so serious, these two always crack me up. This time Brad said he would only get married if George and his partner can as well. There are also rumors going around Pitt might run for Major of New Orleans sometime in the near future. Meanwhile Kim has beaten Kuznetsova and is in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati tournaments and both Williams-sisters are out losing to Bammer and Pennetta.

Dog abuser Michael Vick has signed a one-year contract with American Football team the Philadelphia Eagles for a year, just after being released from prison. Surprised that anyone would hire a cruel guy like that for a family friendly sports team. I would not wanna play in a team with a guy like that.

And Michael Phelps made sure to keep the tradition of being in trouble after winning medals at Olympics or World championships alive. He was involved in a three-car accident in Baltimore. Apparently it was Michael’s fault.

Confused man with toilet paper on the side of the high way

Close to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands,on the side the highway the police found a man sleeping in a movie directors chair. He was wearing an orange safety vest, holding an emergency kit and and had toilet paper around his neck. The man had no idea why he was sitting there and was being brought over to a mental clinic. Very strange!!

Candy Spelling should just act like a real mother and stop bad-mouthing daughter Tori every chance she gets. If she was a good person she would try to see her grandchildren, but Candy is too busy airing dirty family laundry to TMZ and other gossip outlets. What person says her daughter is to blame for her father’s death because she had a family feud. Tori seems at least somewhat of a nice person and I feel bad for her having such a psycho bitch mom.

Disney bought the rights for a remake of the famous Anne Frank story. As a dutch guy I have read the book and seen the movies about her and a while back me and my boyfriend went to her famous museum in Amsterdam. At first I thought it was bad that Disney got the rights, but on the other hand they might make the story popular with the American youth again and Anne Frank’s story is important enough to be kept in the memories of all. Hope they do stick to the reality and not make it into something glamorous or princess-like.

As I reported earlier Michael Douglas’ son is in prison for drug dealing, but now Cameron’s girlfriend might join him. She tried to smuggle heroin in an electric toothbrush in a conference room inside a federal courthouse in New York to give her boyfriend. How stupid can you be???

As expected the woman that accused Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of rape just wanted the sex herself and more. She hoped to get pregnant with his baby and boasted to friend and co-workers that she had consensual sex with Roethlisberger and was happy about it. Just trying to cash in some money!!

Shmuel Preimark, a soldier in the ultra-Othrodox Nahal Haredi Unit, was arrested for making anti-gay threats on a gay forum for three days prior to Saturday’s rally in honor of the shooting in Tel Aviv the previous weekend. He admitted to saying more killing would happen soon and police is now looking into what his involvement might have been in other crimes. How can anyone do something like that after such a horrible shooting. Hope he rots away in jail for a while.

In Ireland 5.000 people protested this weekend in opposition to the civil partnerships bill being introduced soon. They say they want full marriage equality and not something. I think sometimes in religious countries like Ireland, gay people should be happy with little steps so maybe first civil partnerships and then marriage. That is the route taken in the Netherlands before and it helps people warm up to the idea of gays marrying instead of alienating them. On the other hands civil partnerships are not the same as marriage, so still no equality and that is not a good thing either. I go back on forth on this issue.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe showed once more what a great guy he is by donating a major amount of money to the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that operates the only nationwide suicide prevention helpline for gay, lesbian and transgendered youth. Gay teens are up to 4 times more likely to commit suicide so this organization does great things.

The "queen of nice" is back on the tennis courts

Kim Clijsters, after Steffi Graf my all-time favorite, made a triumphant return to the WTA Tour last night in Cincinnati. She beat Stanford winner Marion Bartoli from France in the first round with 6-4 6-3. The 26-year old Belgian woman started the match great leading 4-0. Bartoli came back to 4-4 but after that it was all Kim. She made Bartoli run a lot with great ground strokes and Kim’s serve was a weapon as well. Kim retired in may 2007, got a baby Jada, but after her dad died last year, Kim wanted to try out professional tennis one more time. I hope and think she will have an amazing come-back. Tennis needs her right now! I saw her play many times and hopefully many times in the feature as well.

Kathy Griffin took a very surprising guest with her as her date to the Teen Choice Award. The ex of Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston. Kathy says age is just a number and they have been dating for a while. Which is hard with him being in an igloo and herself living in a Hollywood Tower according to Kathy. She sure knows how to create some controversy. Would it not be funny if they got married and became baby Palin’s stepmom??.

During those same Teen Choice Awards there was this great moment where comedian Dane Cook tells the audience this night is all about Vanessa Hudgens. Actress Jaime Pressly was seen peeing outside of gay bar the Abbey in Los Angeles this weekend in broad daylight. According to several sources the ‘My Name is Earl Actress’ was super drunk, stumbled outside and squatted  down on the sidewalk. After pics started to surface later  she herself claimed it was a bet and she just emptied a water bottle behind her back. Don;t know what to believe here. I had my intoxicated toilet moments outside before, but never with so many people watching, so I’m guessing Jaime is telling the truth.

Woman donates kidney for free

Kidney patient Adrie de Graaf from the Netherlands needed a new kidney and asked in a newspaper for a samaritan donor who was willing to give him one. Maggy van Manen was his saving angel and wanted to donate one of hers for free. She says a person can perfectly live with just one and after tests this week she seemed  in great condition and the kidney would fit perfectly. To do that for a stranger is mighty fine. I think I would do it for someone I love, definitely if they would be young, but never for a stranger.

This year on American Idol there will be guest judges to will the void left by Paula Abdul. The first one was Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice. According to reports she tried to be nice and came off cool and icy. I am surprised by that because always when i hear her she seems funny and she was really great on Project Runway as a judge. Paula meanwhile has been tipped as a judge for Dancing with the Stars.

British train wreck Kerry Katona seems to get into more trouble all the time. Her new show on MTV is a flop and after having liposuction last year and looking all slimmed down, now she gained at least 20 pounds back. She is also a rumored pill-popper, alcoholic and druggie. Her marriage is in trouble as well it seems. I read her autobiography once and you have to feel sorry for her. She is bi-polar, had an abusive step dad, a mother that introduced her to speed and other drugs and she was a stripper. The fact that she made it into a successful girl band, was married to a famous boy bander and was able to win “I’m a celebrity get me out of here” is surprisingly enough. Hope she will have some better times again soon.

Another day another person trying to cash in on Michael Jackson’s fame and money. Actor Mark Lester, who was a friend of Jackson, was asked around the time Paris was born to donate sperm for Michael. Flavia Pennetta wins big tournament in Los Angeles

One of the around 8 favorite players I have in the tennis world, Flavia Pennetta from Italy, won the first big tournament in her career by beating Australians Sam Stosur in 2 sets 6-4 6-3. Stosur had impressed the field so far with her mighty serve and powerful groundstrokes but did not show her best in the final. Flavia played great though and was the better in almost all the longer rallies. She already stunned the tennis world by beating an almost back in form Maria Sharapova in the quarter finals en route to this finale. After two huge tournaments with in the first one in Stanford both Williams sisters, Jankovic and Dementieva playing and here in L.A with Sharapova and Ivanovic,

Plane crash in New York kills 9

As if we did not have enough plane crashes in the news lately, another one happened in New York yesterday on the Hudson(again). A helicopter and a small plane crashed against another and killed all the people including 5 Italian tourists. Pieces were found in the river between Manhattan and Hoboken, New Jersey. I saw it on the Internet right before I wanted to go to bed and called my boyfriend in New York who lives at the river to see if he had heard/seen anything. He had not, so ironically I knew about it earlier on the other side of the world then him who lives a few kilometers from the crash. That’s technology for you. A truly sad day again in New York though.

Between 25.000 and 70.000 people gathered in Tel Aviv to show their support for the LGBT community of Israel after last weekend’s shooting that killed two. Under attendance was the major of Tel Aviv and president Simon Peres who gave a wonderful speech. Unfortunately the killer is still on the run.

The new version of Melrose Place will have a gay character as well played by hottie Victor Webster. Caleb Brewer will be a cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking man who happens to be gay. Well I hope he will have a bit more sex then poor Matt in the original but that is not hard to beat.

In Glasgow at the gay and lesbian arts festival there will be a play called Jesus, Queen of Heaven that will portray Jesus as a transsexual woman. Christian organizations are up in arms and I can’t really blame them. This is just the same kind of  provocative nonsense like the gay Nativity in Amsterdam last December.

Gay Miami news anchor Charles Perez(who had his own nationally syndicated talk-show years ago) has been fired after filing a discrimination complaint. He was demoted to the weekend slot because he was becoming too “gay” for mainstream. He was smiling too much and giggling with his co-anchors like girlfriend. This happened a week after an ex of Perez forwarded an email to his bosses where Perez told his shrink he had gender identity issues. Perez thinks that is the reason he got demoted and filed the complaint. His boss is a gay man himself so i dunno what to believe here.

British professional boxer Rob Newbiggin says he was born intersexed and plans to transition to a woman and after that fight as woman professionally. He says he has high levels of oestrogen in his body but has more man characteristics. He started boxing because his step-dad wanted him to butch up. Of course it is fine that he wants to become a woman, but I think it would be unfair if he would actually compete at the ladies, he really really looks like a big manly man. This is totally different from tennis player Sarah Gronert who plays with the ladies but also really looks like a woman.

Patrick Swayze uses medical marijuana to treat the nausea, insomnia and anxiety from chemo. He looks much better since a while back so it seems like it is helping him. Marijuana should just be legal in the U.S. as it is in the Netherlands. The fact that it is legal does not make more people use it, most people in the dutch coffee shops are foreigners and most people that I know have never even smoked it back home.

There are rumors circling the Internet that Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite. There is a clip on youtube where she has a bit of a bulge and in an interview(nobody knows for sure if it’s real) she says that she has both male and female genitalia, but feels a woman. I love Lady Gaga no matter what she has in her pants. I think it’s probably all bullshit though.

Billy Mays, the famous commercial men for Oxiclean had a lot of drugs in his system when he died. He died officially from a heart attack caused by high blood pressure but had used cocaine, xanax, vicodin, alcohol, and valium in the days before he died. His family is not happy that this is now all over the news.

It looks like the insurance policy that AEG put out at Lloyd’s of London for Michael Jackson may be worthless. It did not cover death by illegal drugs. Propofol is not illegal in itself but the use at someone’s home is. The policy would have covered $17.5 million of the $ 30 million AEG is losing.

After my praising of Julia Child as a great chef and great woman yesterday, I came across  a slightly disturbing article from Boston Magazine in 2007 about Julia that showed a different darker character. She got sued in 1992 for blocking a gay chef from an executive position with the American Institute for Food and Wine. She called Fashion designers little Pansies,” a cooking school was “a nest of homo vipers,” a Boston dinner party was “peopled by 3 fags in an expensive house. San Francisco was beautiful but full of pedals(french slang for fags)—“It appears that SF is their favorite city! I’m tired of them, talented though they are.” Of course this was in a different time period when most people knew little gays but she met enough of them, so she could have been a little more open-minded. My grandmother who was her age, once said after hearing a guy was gay that she hoped that he would meet up a man to live with and would not end up being alone.

He also said the two of them were meant to be together and he was gonna make her his bride. His house looks like something out of the 19th century so tiny. 

New Real Housewives of Atlanta drama. According to the bewigged Kim Zolciak, she was strangled and choked twice by her nemisis on the show Nene Leakes.The Bravo network wanted them to work through their issues but instead it became war. According to Nene these are all lies. Kim filed a police report but she did not put a restraining order on Nene because that would screw up the filming of their show. Wow, Kim is a real pro!! I would be careful though if I was her, Nene could take down a professional cage-fighter by the looks of her. But both women are great forV T and hilarious!

The new Sherlock Holmes movie directed by Guy Ritchie and with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. has severe gay undertones. Holmes and his help share the same bed, wrestle a lot together and are room-mates. Curious how the audiences will like this.

An Australian stripper that was hired for a bachelor party and ended up fucking the groom with a strap-on was found not guilty of rape. The guy says his friends pressured him to sit on a chair where later the woman pushed the strap-on in the guy's hole. She said is was an accident and all in good fun, the groom could not laugh about it though.

Gay news; Obama, Brad Pitt, ex-gays

The error rate in signatures for the anti-gay measure to get the now allowed domestic partnerships law up for referendum in Washington has increased to 14.4 %. It’s the highest error rate of any ever seen so far. And then to think of all the people that were scammed into signing in favor of gay marriage but instead signed against it.

Brad Pitt again showed he is a friend of us gays. He said he would only marry his Angelina if everyone(so gays) can get married as well. He also speaks out against Prop 8 and says he has no understanding for that kind of hatred. Brad says hatred is something almost always being passed on by parents, something I totally agree with. 

The American Psychologist Organization made in a statement clear that, after a significant study, there is no reason to believe ex-gay therapy works. Professionals should not tell people they can change their sexuality, but instead help them accept it. I could have told them that before a study but it’s good that is now officially on paper. I always just feel sad for those people acting like have changed their sexuality through therapy.

The U.S.’ most famous gay magazine Advocate confronts Obama on their cover saying “the hero was a player after all”. He has promised a lot and delivered very little according to Advocate. I think Obama seems to think only talking about gay rights and saying he is gonna do a lot for them is enough, but more and more gay people are very impatient and frustrated and hopefully this will pressure him into action. We will have to see if that happens though.

Tomorrow the movie with Meryl Streep playing icon of the kitchen Julia Child will come out in cinemas. I am a big Food Network fan and I have seen specials about Julia and she was the real deal! Can’t wait to see that movie.

Dustin Lance Black, Oscar winner with Milk and writer of Big Love, is gonna sue the website Starzlife.com for leaking photos that show him having bareback sex with his partner at the time. He says he did not know the pictures were taken and demands $3 million. While I can understand him being pissed about sex pics being exposed while he is a serious writer and example for young gays, the pics clearly see him looking into the camera so I think he did know about this. And $3 million is quite a lot.

A gay men in Poland won a big landmark case against one of his female neighbors that kept calling him a faggot in the supermarket and apartment complex. The court in Szczecin ruled that the man should receive 15.00o zlotty. Great in a country were the government is so anti-gay. Personally I like Poland, have been there twice and my cousin married a very nice and cute girl in Poland where we had a great wedding, my boyfriend was invited as well. Never felt any anti-gay atmosphere there.

According to a travel article in the New York times, Beirut is the Provincetown of the Middle East. I have read more articles about Beirut and that is is fairly tolerant for gays and has a nice nightlife. Lots of people from neighboring countries come to the capital of Lebanon to be open and to party. While I think it’s great that there is some open-mindedness over there,  homosexuality is still illegal in Lebanon so I think I will just go to the real Provincetown instead.

Michael Jackson’s dermatologist Arnold Klein announced he wants to keep playing a big role in the life of Michael’s kids. He says it’s because that is what he promised, but others(me included) think it’s because he is the father of the 2 oldest.

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee might get back together I read in various media outlets. Seems like those two really can’t be with or without another. I think they should be together, they are a perfect fit.

Jennifer Aniston plays her pity party again in Elle Magazine telling a story that happened when she was 7 years old. She asked her mom is she was just as pretty as her girlfriend Monique and her mom reacted with” Oh, honey, you are so funny” and Jen was traumatized for the rest of her live. That explains former boyfriends of her telling media she constantly wanted validation for the way she looks. Well, I for one think Mommy knew best.

And Paula Abdul is leaving American Idol. On her twitter she told that they could not reach a good contract so she decided to leave. She was probably the best thing that ever happened to Idol with her crazy behavior and antics. They will surely regret this.

In Wisconsin on monday gay couples can take advantage of the new domestic partnerships registry. It will afford same-sex couples about 40 legal protections previously extended to married couples only. It’s not total equality yet, but better then nothing.

On Joe My God  I read that the founder of Mission America, Linda Harvey, said some really despicable things about the gay murders in Tel Aviv. She first really shortly says the murders are bad(just to cover her ass for the rest of the hate she is gonna be spewing), but right after that complains that the gays blame religious people for the murders and says everybody has to right to oppose homosexuality also people in Israel. And if those children would not be going to those centers they would not have been dead, blaming the centers for luring the children in. First of all these were young people between 16-mid 20’s and no little children,at that age they know how they are! And how terrible are you to use the death of those people to advance your own sick message.

Naomi Campbell was allegedly at it again, hitting a photographer in Italy at the island of Lipari. According to the man she beat him with her purse and then scratched his left eye. Bodyguards and Naomi’s latest beau had to get her off him. Seems like those anger management classes haven’t done much good.

Ryan O’Neal showed again what a dirty douche bag he is, because at Farrah Fawcett’s funeral he was hitting on his own daughter Tatum. He had not seen her for a while and thought she was some Swedish woman and started chatting her up. Just too gross for words.

Speaking of drug addicts, Michael Douglas’ son actor Cameron was arrested for meth possession with the intent to distribute in New York yesterday. He has already been arrested before in 2007 after cops found a syringe with liquid cocaine in his car. 

24-year old Kristin Hardy has officially divorced her 85-year old billionaire husband Joe Hardy, founder of 84 Lumber. They were only together for three months but he wanted to have sex all the time and she did not. He also wanted her to walk around the house in sexy lingerie all the time. The funniest part is her saying that she is not a gold-digger and married him for love!!  Gold-diggers are fine except when they deny who they are.

Sport, gay and gossip news

The tennis tournament in Stanford was not won by a Williams but by hefty french woman Marion Bartoli. After Serena Williams already lost in the quarterfinals to Samantha Stosur, Bartoli took care after Jelena Jankovic in the quarter-finals and Venus Williams in the final with 6-2 5-7 6-4. Bartoli played a terrific match and is surprisingly quick with her hands but Venus made 59 unforced errors and that is obviously way too much. Outside of Wimbledon the Williams sisters are just not the same.

During gay pride in Amsterdam five American-Dutch gay couples were married by mayor Cohen. All five couples had at least one living in New York and the marriages were partly done as a criticism against some U.S states like New York that don't allow same-sex marriage. I knew about this for a few months and always thought it was a great idea. Could have been me and my boyfriend. We would have fit the criteria perfectly. Maybe next year, but hopefully things in New York have changed by then for gay couples.

On Perez Hilton you can read a sneak-peek of the first book by Kathy Griffin, named 'Official Book Club Selection'. She rips Oprah Winfrey apart in her familiar ways in her foreword and if this is any sign of the rest of the book it will be hilarious and I can't wait to read it! Nobody is funnier then Kathy in my opinion.
